University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw invites to participate in developing a collective monograph on psychological sciences

321

Dear colleages,

On behalf of the Editorial Board, I would like to kindly invite you to submit your manuscripts reporting research which will contribute to completion of the collective monograph entitled “Psychological Approaches to Health and Disease”.

In modern societies, chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, cancers, diabetes or depression have become the leading cause of morbidity and mortality, and estimates are made that incidence of these diseases will still be increasing in future. This situation poses a new challenge for psychologists who face the need of providing diagnosis, support, therapy or guidance to increasing numbers of clients who suffer from chronic illness. The fact that people are nowadays more aware of the fact that their health depends to a great extent on their own behaviour and everyday-life choices creates a new space for psychological research and inquiry into determinants of good health. Psychological research has already made crucial contributions to our understanding why people reveal healthy or unhealthy behaviours, however it seems that still more is to be discovered in this field.

Therefore, we would like to encourage our partners from Ukraine and Poland to submit their manuscripts reporting original research in the area of psychology of health and disease. We believe that our common effort will be rewarded by a great book which will be a milestone in the development of health psychology.

PhD, Vice-dean of the Faculty of Psychology,
