On December 8, the CUESC Polish colleagues presented lectures under the framework of scientific and pedagogical internships in different subject areas.
Vikhliaiev Mykhailo Yuriiovych, Doctor of Law, Professor, Director of the Center for Ukrainian and European Scientific Cooperation, delivered a welcome speech. He stressed that the pandemic affected each of us, but it is important to find strength and try grasping something positive and useful in the current context.
Mgr Joanna Skiba, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Expert in Adult Education and E-Learning, was the first speaker. The topic of her report was «Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. The concepts of post-pandemic reality in the academic setting».
The lecturer told the participants of the scientific event about the consequences of COVID-19, which can be found in today’s realities. In particular, the scientist touched upon the mental component of the human perception of the pandemic. She shared data from empirical research on the issue concerned and noted that most respondents became more irritable and demonstrated antisocial behavior. Mgr Joanna Skiba gave us, at first sight, simple but useful and practical advice: do sports, even at home, devote oneself to personal intellectual and spiritual development.
The second speaker was dr Marcin Miziołek, Certified Coach, Mentor, gave the lecture «Train the trainer-coaching academic teachers as the fundamental structure of modern didactics».
The speaker followed his colleague’s opinion that everyone should take care of one’s health, especially mental, during this difficult period. Dr Marcin Miziołek emphasized that it is necessary to talk about own problems, have no scruples about emotions, and, if necessary, consult a psychologist – nowadays it should not be taboo. The lecturer also highlighted teachers in educational institutions should be aware of psychology because modern pedagogical approaches require it.
Thus, the lectures raised important current issues. Participants obtained much valuable information on how to improve their own condition in the post-pandemic period, learned about new methods relevant to the modern context, and could borrow them for their teaching practice.
An online lecture is available at our official YouTube channel at the link.
