The last online lecture of the all-Ukrainian scientific and pedagogical training “Innovative Approaches to Teaching Law: International Standards, Economic Integration and Digital Development”.

The programme was jointly implemented by the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs and the Centre for Ukrainian and European Scientific Cooperation.

Today’s session was devoted to the topic “Effective use of social networks for professional development of lawyers and personal branding in the digital world”, which was presented by Natalia Mishyna, researcher of the SAGE laboratory of the University of Strasbourg, France, and Kristina Drogozyuk, PhD, associate professor of the department of civil, notarial and mandatory procedure in the National University “Odesa Law Academy”.

During lecture, Kristina shared her own experience of using social networks for professional development and answered the most pressing questions about how social networks work in the context of developing a personal brand for a lawyer, namely:

  • what is a personal brand and how it is formed from;
  • how to define your identity and uniqueness;
  • how to effectively start using social networks to develop a personal brand;
  • how to respond to hate and negative reviews;
  • personal experience of the lecturer in building a personal brand, as well as typical mistakes;
  • how to write interesting and catchy texts adapted to the format of social networks;
  • what is the target audience and how to find it;
  • the expert’s reputation and its influence on the personal brand;
  • recommendations of the lecturer in working with social networks, which are based on personal experience.

Considering the fact that the lecturer has sustained experience in running a legal blog and writing popular scientific texts for mass media, the lecture was filled with live examples, experience and the author’s assets. It was especially useful to listen to the block about the mistakes the author made during the development of her social networks and how she overcame them.

The block on LinkedIn was presented by Natalia Mishyna, a recognised expert in the field of Council of Europe and local and regional government (municipal) law. She has extensive experience in human rights, in particular in the area of enforcement of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. Her expertise is valued in both academic and practical circles. Natalia actively cooperates with international organisations and participates in conferences, where her presentations always arouse interest and lively discussions. Her recommendations and research are an important contribution to the development of law enforcement at the local and regional levels.

Natalia Mishyna revealed the peculiarities of building a personal brand and presenting the results of her research and teaching experience on LinkedIn. She spoke about the potential that this network represents for lawyers, teachers and researchers, paying special attention to the peculiarities of networking and receiving feedback from colleagues (using the example of her personal page, where she posts expert content – the results of her individual research project ‘The Role of Local and Regional Authorities in the Implementation of the European Court of Human Rights Judgments’).

The authors concluded the lecture with a meaningful systematisation of information and provided a clear algorithm of actions and personal recommendations for starting social media.

We thank all the specialists who are interested in the development of professional activities and join the all-Ukrainian scientific pedagogical advanced training!
