Tartu Health Care College presented new opportunities for medical scientists from Ukraine

On March 11, 2019, Oleh Holovko and Mykhailo Vikhliaiev, members of the Executive Board of the Center for Ukrainian and European Scientific Cooperation, met with Danel Jantra, International Relations Specialist of Tartu Health Care College, and heads of the college’s departments: Saima Hinno, Head of the Department of Nursing, the Department of Specialized Nursing, and the Department of Midwifery, Anna-Liisa Tamm, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and the Department of Environmental Health, Zinaida Läänelaid, Head of the Department of Radiography and the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Tiina Uusma, Head of the Department of Vocational Education. During the meeting, the parties discussed many interesting points of the educational and scientific process. An informative excursion within the college was organised for the members of the Center.

Tartu Health Care College is a higher education institution in Estonia providing training to healthcare specialists. In 1811 the college was established as a school for midwives. In 2005 the school was renamed Tartu Health Care College. Now it includes the following study programmes: Nursing, Midwifery, Radiography, Physiotherapy, Biomedical Science etc. The main objective of the College is the provision of competitive, high-quality, innovative and international education.

In the context of the meeting, the parties agreed upon future cooperation. Thus, in October of this year, it is scheduled to organize a study visit for students and young scientists from Ukraine to Estonian medical college under the terms of the cooperation agreement between the Center for Ukrainian and European Scientific Cooperation and Tartu Health Care College. According to the members of the Executive Board of the Center, Tartu Health Care College has a lot of interesting things to present and show to the Ukrainian community. The representatives of the College marked they are willing to share a gained experience with Ukrainians.

The issues related to future joint projects: development of collective monographs and conducting international scientific and practical conferences on medical sciences, were also discussed at the meeting. The parties presented their own views on possible forms of carrying out the above events, work stages, the nuances of distance cooperation, etc. Detailed information on joint projects will be available later at “Announcements”.

It is interesting proposal of Tartu Health Care College to involve young scientists from Ukraine in participating in the international conference on health and medical sciences “Health in our hands” which is scheduled on November 21, 2019, and devoted to the 208th anniversary of the College. The aim of the conference is to promote interactions among students and lecturers from different fields (healthcare, medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy, biomedical science etc.), countries, and exchange of research knowledge and experience. Papers are accepted before November 15, 2019. The Center for Ukrainian and European Scientific agreed to be information partner of the above event, thus, in the near future medical scientists from Ukraine will be able to get familiar with participation requirements in more details.
