CONTEST HISTORY:
On February 20, 2014, the russian army took over the Crimean Peninsula – it was the day when russia first violated international law – which was qualified as an act of aggression against Ukraine. On that day, on Maidan in Kyiv, Ukrainian criminal authorities shot people who were defending the European integration aspirations of the Ukrainian people. In fact, the Russian-Ukrainian war began on that day, and it happened because of Ukraine’s European vector of development. On February 24, 2022, russia launched a full-scale offensive, committing thousands of war crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine.
On June 23, 2022, the EU granted candidate status to Ukraine, which once again legally enshrined the European integration choice of the Ukrainian people, which they continue to defend in the war, at the European level.
Realizing the need to develop and popularize high-quality Ukrainian books on law, security, and European integration under war and Ukraine’s preparation for EU accession, at the end of 2022, Odesa State University of Internal Affairs initiated the unification of the Ukrainian Publishers & Booksellers Association, Publishing House “Juridica”, and CUESC as co-organizers to prepare, arrange, and conduct the All-Ukrainian (national) competition of scientific and educational publications on law, security, and European integration “Juridica”.
In 2023, the competition encouraged scholars from all over Ukraine to publish contributions on law, security, and European integration. Despite the war, the 1st competition resulted in about 60 publications authored by more than 200 scholars. More information about the event and photos are available here.
DEADLINES:
- February 1 – April 20 – submission of materials;
- April 20 – May 15 – assessment of materials by the committee, identification of winners;
- May 18 (Science Day in Ukraine) – a solemn meeting in Odesa, awarding the winners and nominees.

PARTICIPATION TERMS:
To participate in the competition, you should present the books (monographs, textbooks) published during 2023 and assigned a 2023 ISBN; peer-reviewed journals with at least one issue published in 2023.

One of the authors may be the subject submitting books (monographs, textbooks).
Journals may be submitted by the editors-in-chief and editorial boards members listed on the journal’s website.

The printed copies submitted for the competition will be solemnly handed over to the scientific library of Odesa State University of Internal Affairs on May 18, 2024 on the occasion of the Day of Science in Ukraine.
